Krakow Hotels and Krakow Accommodation
(Krakow, Malopolskie, Poland, PL)
One of the top tourist destinations in the whole of Poland, the rates charged by Krakow's hotels match its popularity.
However, the accommodation scene in Krakow seems to be continually expanding and so the supply of more affordable hotels is slowly increasing.
The most centrally located lodging is always the first to be fully booked during the peak summer season and so if you are looking for accommodation in the very heart of Krakow at this time of the year, you will need to book well ahead.
Krakow Hotels and Accommodation: Where to Stay - Krakow, Poland, PL
Old Town Krakow is where you will find the best selection of mid-range hotels and luxury accommodation, together with a number of perfectly acceptable budget options. Cheaper hotels can generally be found just outside of this area, close to the Planty border, Rynek and the main sights.
Many popular hotels are also based in the Kazimierz area of Krakow and many of the more expensive choices here regularly quote their room rates in both US dollars and also Euros. For cheaper accommodation, Krakow caters well to backpackers and many western-style hostels have appeared in recent years, just outside of the city centre itself. Rooms in private houses and self-catering apartments also provide good value and often suit families, although if you choose not to book these through the Krakow tourist office, you should always check the location and room before paying.
Whilst Krakow has a reasonable choice of budget hotels and similar accommodation, very few of these options are near to the city centre and therefore will require that you use public transport to travel into the city. A series of clear and modern youth hostels are extremely cheap, although perhaps a little too basic for some. The Oleandry YHA Hostel is amongst the most popular and is just 1 km / 0.5 miles to the west of Krakow's atmospheric Old Town area.
Several camping sites are also available and situated on the outskirts of Krakow, such as the Clepardia Camping Site, which is 4 km / 2.5 miles to the north of the city centre and close to the Billa Supermarket.
